Washington, D.C. — Today, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul (R-TX), Subcommittee on the Middle East, North Africa, and Central Asia Chairman Joe Wilson (R-SC), and Rep. Jim Baird (R-IN) led the introduction of legislation to prohibit the Biden administration from extending or reissuing Syria General License 23, which authorized direct transactions with the Assad regime for 180 days after the February Turkey–Syria earthquake.

Washington, D.C. – Starting today, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul is leading a congressional delegation (CODEL) to meet with allies and partners in Finland, Sweden, and the Netherlands.

Washington, D.C. – In a House Foreign Affairs Committee hearing last week, top Biden administration officials attempted to downplay the Taliban's terrorist ties in an effort to exclude them from an updated authorized use of military force (AUMF). They repeatedly claimed the Taliban is meeting their counterterrorism obligations under the Doha agreement because they are working to defeat ISIS-K.

Washington, D.C. – House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul announced the full committee will hold a markup to consider various measures regarding export controls, restricting the flow of foreign nations' support to the Taliban, and strengthening sanctions against Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad and other terrorist groups for their ongoing use of human shields on Wednesday, December 13th.
