“Last evening, the new Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa and I broke bread. We had a long and serious conversation about how to build a future for the people of Syria free of war, ISIS, and extremism.

He and I are two former soldiers and two former enemies. I asked him directly ‘Why we are no longer enemies?’

“For hundreds of days, following the October 7 genocide, the Palestinian elected government of Hamas terrorists held and tortured the Americans they did not kill, and held the bodies of those they did kill. Today, 730 days later, they still hold nearly 20 living hostages, and the corpses of those they murdered in captivity.
