Washington, D.C. – Today, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul (R-TX), Ranking Member Rep. Gregory W. Meeks (D-NY), and Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-VA) introduced the bipartisan Taiwan Tax Agreement Act of 2023, authorizing the Biden administration to negotiate and conclude a tax agreement with Taiwan. This potential agreement between the United States and Taiwan would facilitate investment, protect against tax evasion, and allow businesses in both the US and Taiwan to avoid double taxation.

AUSTIN, TX – House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul has released the following statement on the second anniversary of the Abbey Gate terrorist attack at the Hamid Karzai International Airport (HKIA) in Kabul, Afghanistan during the emergency evacuation of the country. The attack, carried out by an ISIS-K terrorist, killed 13 U.S. servicemembers and more than 170 Afghans, and injured another 45 U.S. servicemembers and countless Afghans. It was the deadliest day for U.S. forces in Afghanistan since 2011.

Washington, D.C. – Today, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul delivered remarks at a Subcommittee on the Middle East, North Africa, and Central Asia hearing entitled, "Iran's Proxy in Yemen: The Houthi Threat to Middle East Stability, Global Shipping, and U.S. Servicemembers." In his opening remarks, Chairman McCaul highlighted how the attacks committed by Iranian proxies across the Middle East, including Houthi terrorists in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, fuels instability in the region, putting lives and the global economy at risk.
