Washington, D.C. – Today, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul (R-TX) and Ranking Member Gregory W. Meeks (D-NY) participated in a roundtable discussion focused on the challenges facing women and girls in Afghanistan after the Taliban takeover. Members of the committee heard from former Afghan Ambassador to the U.S. Roya Rahmani, former Afghan diplomat Hadeia Amiry, and former Kabul Deputy Governor Hanifa Girowal. The chairman delivered the following remarks at today's roundtable.

Washington, D.C. –  House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul issued the following statement in reaction to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) General Conference accepting the U.S. membership proposal put forward by the Biden administration. UNESCO admitted "Palestine" as a full-fledged member state in 2011. This triggered a cutoff of U.S. funding, and the Biden administration is now choosing to waive longstanding U.S. law prohibiting the U.S.

Washington, D.C. — Today, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul (R-TX) sent a letter to Secretary of State Antony Blinken and United States Ambassador-at-Large for Global Criminal Justice Beth Van Schaack, issuing a clear and unambiguous declaration that Hamas has committed acts of genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes against the Jewish people and the State of Israel, and calling upon the Department of State to consider a formal determination of the same.
