Chairman Mast on Trump Administration’s Investigation into China’s Implementation of Phase One Agreement

October 24, 2025

WASHINGTON, D.C. -  Today, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Brian Mast issued the following statement in response to the Trump administration’s newly announced investigation into whether China has fully implemented its commitments under the Phase One Agreement.

“China reneged on their 2020 agreement with President Trump to buy $200 billion worth of American goods. They had the audacity to cite the COVID-19 pandemic — which they literally started — as their reason. This is unacceptable and we thank President Trump for holding them to the deal they made.”
