Washington, D.C. – Today, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul (R-TX) issued the following statement on the one-year anniversary of the AUKUS optimal pathway to equip the Australians with conventionally armed, nuclear-powered submarines. Last year, Chairman McCaul joined Rep. Bill Huizenga (R-MI) to lead the AUKUS Submarine Transfer Act, which authorized the sale of these submarines to the Australians, all while adhering to the highest non-proliferation standards.

Washington, D.C. – Yesterday, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul (R-TX) joined Rep. John James (R-MI) to introduce the Enhance Cooperation Against Terrorism Act. This legislation will help improve security cooperation between countries in the Middle East and North Africa region by expediting congressional review of arms sales to U.S. partners and allies if the Secretary of State determines they are taking steps to combat the threat posed by Iran and its proxies and promoting normalization efforts with Israel.

Washington, D.C. - Today, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul sent a letter to President Biden and Secretary of State Antony Blinken calling on the Biden administration to formally intervene in South Africa's case against Israel at the International Court of Justice alleging violations of the Genocide Convention. In the letter, Chairman McCaul notes that the United States must protect the Convention from South Africa's efforts to debase its significance, render hollow the meaning of genocide, and permit its use as a political tool by malign actors.
