Washington, D.C. – Today, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul questioned Biden administration State Department officials on their failure to ensure that the U.S. remains the leading superpower in the Western Hemisphere. During his questioning, Chairman McCaul emphasized the importance of establishing working partnerships in our hemisphere to deter the unholy alliance of China, Russia, and Iran from spreading their malign influence and promote greater prosperity in the region.

Washington, D.C. – Today, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul (R-TX), Senator Todd Young (R-IN), House Rules Committee Ranking Member Jim McGovern (D-MA), and Senator Jeff Merkley (D-OR) praised the passage of their bipartisan bill that will promote a peaceful resolution of the long-standing dispute between Tibet and China by encouraging dialogue between the Chinese Communist Party and the Dalai Lama. The Promoting a Resolution to the Tibet-China Dispute Act will be sent to President Biden, who is expected to sign it into law.

Res. 965, which calls for the immediate release of Ryan Corbett, an American citizen wrongfully detained by the Taliban. In his remarks, Chairman McCaul urged President Biden to prioritize bringing Ryan home as his health deteriorates and he continues to be held in horrific conditions by Taliban terrorists.

Chairman McCaul emphasized that the Biden administration's failures to confront the "no limits" partnership between Russia and China has allowed Chairman Xi to fuel Russia's defense-industrial base, as Putin continues his brutal war of aggression in Ukraine.
