Washington, D.C. – Yesterday, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul delivered remarks on the House Floor in support of H.Con.Res. 27, which condemns the detention of Vladimir Kara-Murza, a strong advocate for human rights and democracy in Russia. After Putin invaded Ukraine in 2022, Mr. Kara-Murza spoke out against the war and returned to Russia to advocate for peace where he was promptly arrested and sentenced to 25 years in prison. Washington, D.C. – Today, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul delivered remarks at a Subcommittee on Oversight and Accountability hearing addressing management failures at the U.S. Agency for Global Media (USAGM). Chairman McCaul emphasized the need for reform at USAGM so the agency can continue to accurately report the news abroad and combat propaganda by authoritarian regimes.
