Washington, D.C. - Today, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul gave the following opening remarks at a full committee markup of H.Res.158, Requesting the President and directing the Secretary of Defense and Secretary of State to transmit, respectively, certain documents to the House of Representatives relating to congressionally appropriated funds to the nation of Ukraine from January 20, 2021 to February 24, 2023

Washington, DC – House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul issued the following statement in response to the tragic attack on U.S. forces in Syria, conducted with an Iranian-origin UAV, which killed an American contractor and wounded five servicemembers and a contractor. Prior to this attack, Iranian proxies had attacked U.S. forces 78 times since the beginning of 2021, yet this administration only responded kinetically three times.

Washington, DC - This week, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul spoke on the House Floor in support of passing H.R. 1093, To direct the Secretary of State to submit to Congress a report on implementation of the advanced capabilities pillar of the trilateral security partnership between Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The bill passed the House 393-4.

Washington, DC – Today, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul questioned U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken on his continued failure to produce the July 2021 Dissent Channel cable gravely warning of the disastrous consequences of the Biden administration's approach to the withdrawal and the department's official response. In the hearing, Chairman McCaul informed Secretary Blinken that he must produce the cable by close of business Monday or face a subpoena.

Washington, D.C. – Today, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul (R-TX) and House Armed Services Committee Chairman Mike Rogers (R-AL), along with Ranking Member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee Senator Jim Risch (R-ID) and Ranking Member of the Senate Armed Services Committee Roger Wicker (R-MS) sent a letter to President Biden urging the administration to provide Ukraine with cluster munitions such as dual purpose improved conventional munitions (DPICM).

Washington, D.C. – Yesterday, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul sent a letter to U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken following up on previous requests and emphasizing the need for the State Department to produce requested documents pertaining to the Biden administration's catastrophic withdrawal from Afghanistan. In the letter, Chairman McCaul stresses that failure to produce these documents ahead of Secretary Blinken's March 23rd testimony will result in the committee issuing a subpoena.
