Washington, D.C. – Today, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul delivered remarks at a Subcommittee on Oversight and Accountability hearing addressing management failures at the U.S. Agency for Global Media (USAGM). Chairman McCaul emphasized the need for reform at USAGM so the agency can continue to accurately report the news abroad and combat propaganda by authoritarian regimes.

Washington, D.C. – On Friday, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul (R-TX), Subcommittee on Oversight and Accountability Chairman Brian Mast (R-FL), and Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) sent a letter to Secretary of State Antony Blinken regarding the Global Engagement Center's (GEC) potential complicity in efforts to censor Americans. In the letter, the Members raised concerns the office strayed from its statutory duty to counter propaganda and disinformation abroad.

Washington, D.C. – During the 21st annual North Korea Freedom Week, the Subcommittees on the Indo-Pacific and Global Health, Global Human Rights and International Organizations will host a bipartisan roundtable with North Korean defectors on Tuesday, July 9th. The roundtable will focus on the Kim regime's actions to maintain its hold on power and efforts of non-governmental organizations to change the hearts and minds of the North Korean people.

Washington, D.C. – Last week, the U.S. Department of State released the 2024 Trafficking in Persons (TIP) Report. The report ranks every country, including the U.S., from Tier 1 to Tier 3 status based on their governments' efforts to meet minimum standards to eliminate trafficking. The report does not rank countries based on their prevalence of human trafficking. The International Labor Organization estimates traffickers make $236 billion in profits on an estimated 28 million victims each year.

Washington, D.C. – Today, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul delivered remarks on the House Floor honoring the sacrifice of the 13 U.S. servicemembers killed as a result of the Biden administration's disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan. During last night's presidential debate, President Joe Biden lied, claiming to be the only president in the last decade without any U.S. servicemembers dying under his watch.
