Washington, D.C. – This week, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Ed Royce (R-CA) joined Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI), House Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) and others to honor Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), the first woman to chair the House Foreign Affairs Committee, during an unveiling ceremony of Ros-Lehtinen’s official portrait.

During the unveiling ceremony Chairman Royce said:  “As the first woman chairman of this Committee and the first Hispanic woman in Congress, Ileana has broken so many barriers.  And she has passed along an invaluable legislative legacy.

“While Ileana is no longer the Chairman, she is the Chairman Emeritus.  And that’s not just a title.  She earns it.  Every day.

“It has been a privilege to succeed Ileana, my trusted ally and friend, as Chairman of this great Committee.”
