Washington, DC – Ahead of President Biden’s virtual meeting with the G7 tomorrow, below is a statement from House Foreign Affairs Committee Lead Republican Michael McCaul.

“The world’s leading democracies meet tomorrow as the Chinese Communist Party commits genocide in Xinjiang and violently erases the freedoms promised to Hong Kong. While the world suffers through a global pandemic originating in Wuhan and allowed to spread because of deception by the CCP, vaccines are denied to the people of Taiwan and Australian trade is being blocked simply for demanding transparency on a COVID-19 investigation. These crises are all born out of an authoritarian regime whose values and principles run counter to our free and democratic societies. I strongly urge President Biden and our democratic allies to take bold and meaningful action to hold the CCP accountable for their malign actions – reprimands and stern talk are no longer enough.”
