McCaul Concerned Admin ‘Sleepwalking’ Towards Major Crisis on Korean Peninsula
Halifax, Nova Scotia – House Foreign Affairs Committee Lead Republican Michael McCaul issued the following statement in response to North Korea’s most recent missile launch.
“I’m concerned the Biden administration is sleepwalking towards a major security crisis on the Korean Peninsula. The White House has backed away from the goal of North Korea’s complete denuclearization, failed to make the security commitments to the Indo-Pacific that its own National Defense Strategy demands, and is allowing China and Russia to undermine U.S. and UN sanctions. This weakness has unsurprisingly allowed the Kim regime’s belligerence to surpass prior records, and I strongly urge the administration to put forward a strategy that supports our allies, the Republic of Korea and Japan, and begins dealing with Kim from a position of strength.”
