Environmental Study Clears Keystone, Chairman Royce Urges Presidential Approval
Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. Ed Royce (R-CA), Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, issued a statement following the release of the State Department environmental impact study for the Keystone XL pipeline:
“The State Department’s environmental analysis means that the Keystone XL pipeline decision is one step closer to the President’s desk. Today’s report shows that the pipeline’s construction and operation is environmentally safe. For years, I have called on the Administration to approve this critical energy project so that Americans might begin reaping its major economic benefits. Keystone XL pipeline will create jobs in the tens of thousands, lessen our dependency on energy from hostile nations, and help lower prices at the pump. Once again, I urge President Obama to give final approval to the construction of this important energy project; we can’t afford to wait any longer.”
Note: Last year, Chairman Royce, joined by all 24 other Republican Committee Members called on President Obama to approve the Keystone XL project after Nebraska Governor Dave Heineman endorsed it. Their letter is available HERE.
