Chairman McCaul Welcomes Pacific Island Forum to Washington

Washington, D.C. – House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul issued the following statement welcoming the leaders of the Pacific Island Forum to Capitol Hill last week.

“I was delighted to welcome the leaders of the 19 nations of the Pacific Islands Forum to Congress to strengthen ties and foster greater cooperation. As Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, I recognize the unique challenges and opportunities facing the Pacific Islands from environmental disasters, to advancing economic growth and combatting economic coercion, to countering illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing. I am committed to ensuring the Pacific Island nations are resilient in countering China’s growing influence in the region. ”
