Washington, D.C. – House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul released the following statement after being chosen as chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee in the 118th Congress.

“I am thankful to my Republican colleagues for selecting me to continue leading the House Foreign Affairs Committee as Chairman. This Congress, countering the Chinese Communist Party will remain our top national security priority and we will finally get answers from this administration as to why the withdrawal from Afghanistan was such a disaster. This committee will be laser-focused on conducting rigorous oversight and passing meaningful legislation to protect our country from the many challenges the U.S. and our allies face on the world stage.”
