Opening Statements
Rep. Edward R. Royce, Chairman [full text of opening statement]Chairman Royce on the hearing: "I've long been concerned about Pakistan's failure to take meaningful action against key Islamist terrorist groups operating within its territory. The horrific attack in San Bernardino, and Tafsheen Malik's education at a Pakistani madrassa, underscore the need for a new approach to confront this terrorist threat. Wednesday's hearing will give the Committee a chance to examine U.S.-Pakistan counterterrorism cooperation, the effectiveness of U.S. aid, and the concerning rise of schools in Pakistan teaching students hardline, jihadist ideology."
Witnesses
The Honorable Richard Olson
Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan
