U.S. Rep. Ed Royce (R-CA), Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, responded to the renewed violence in Ukraine in which large numbers of protestors and police have been seriously injured, including several deaths. 

Chairman Royce said:  “Events in Ukraine now threaten to descend into chaos.  That can be avoided only if all sides refrain from violence and make every effort to resolve this crisis peacefully.  The U.S. must continue to strongly support the right of the Ukrainian people to determine their own future.”

Note:  Last month, the House Foreign Affairs Committee unanimously passed H. Res. 447, authored by Ranking Member Eliot Engel (D-NY), which calls on all sides in the ongoing confrontation in Ukraine to refrain from violence and to work toward a peaceful resolution of the crisis.  On February 10, the House of Representatives passed H. Res. 447.
