McCaul Condemns ICC Arrest Warrants for Israeli Officials
Washington, D.C. – Today, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul issued the following statement condemning the International Criminal Court (ICC) for issuing arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant. Chairman McCaul urged the Senate to pass the bipartisan Illegitimate Court Counteraction Act – which already passed the House – to protect Americans and our allies from the ICC’s overreach.
“I am outraged by the ICC’s shameful decision to issue arrest warrants for Israeli officials. This anti-Israel witch hunt blatantly ignores the actual facts of this conflict. Israel, like the United States, is not a member of the ICC, and has shown it can investigate and hold its own citizens accountable when necessary. The ICC’s actions set a dangerous precedent with significant implications for the United States. This is exactly why the House passed the bipartisan Illegitimate Court Counteraction Act earlier this year to impose sanctions on ICC officials if the court pursues a case against an American or another citizen of an allied country that is not a member of the ICC. The Senate must act immediately to enact our bill and protect American servicemembers and officials, and our allies.”
