McCaul Statement on Arrest of Juan Guaidó’s Chief of Staff
Washington D.C. – House Foreign Affairs Committee Lead Republican Michael McCaul (R-TX) released a statement following the kidnapping and detention of Robert Marrero, chief of staff to interim President Juan Guaidó, by Nicolás Maduro’s intelligence forces.
Lead Republican McCaul: “I strongly condemn this morning’s kidnapping of Juan Guaidó’s Chief of Staff, Robert Marrero, by Maduro’s intelligence services and call for his immediate release. The international community is closely watching Maduro’s actions and will respond accordingly to any that threaten the safety of the opposition and Interim President Juan Guaidó .
“The Trump Administration’s policies are working to cut off the Maduro regime’s financial resources and I strongly support U.S actions that will continue to apply pressure on this criminal regime. The Venezuelan people are tired of oppression and tired of suffering at the hands of a socialist dictatorship. I continue to stand with Interim President Guaidó and his efforts to bring free and fair elections to Venezuela. The winds of freedom are at the backs of the Venezuelan people and the U.S. will continue to support them in their struggle.”
