Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates – After visiting with U.S. airmen and women at Al Dhafra Air Base, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Ed Royce (R-CA) and Subcommittee Chairman Paul Cook (R-CA) concluded a week-long congressional delegation trip to the Middle East focused on Iran and terrorist threats.

In Abu Dhabi, the delegation met with Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Speaker of the Federal National Council Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi – the first woman to preside over a parliament in the Arab world – as well as U.S. Ambassador Barbara Leaf, Brigadier General Derek France and American business leaders based in the UAE.

“The United Arab Emirates stand for tolerance and opportunity in a dangerous region,” Chairman Royce said. “Our two nations share many interests and concerns — including Iran. Iran’s missile and nuclear programs, as well as its support for the Houthi rebels, is destabilizing the entire region. Together, we will continue to confront Iran’s belligerent acts and extremist ideologies that threaten our way of life.”
