Chairman Royce Statement as Ukraine Support and Russia Sanctions Legislation Heads to President’s Desk
Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. Ed Royce (R-CA), Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, issued this statement following House passage of H.R. 4152, which now will go to the President:
“Bipartisan legislation to support Ukraine and target those responsible for Russia’s aggression against Crimea is on its way to the President’s desk. But the President must do more than sign this bill into law – he’ll have to implement the legislation to its fullest extent. Only then do we have a chance of countering Russian aggression against Ukraine and others in Eastern Europe.
“The President should remove restrictions on natural gas exports, helping break Putin’s energy grip over eastern Europe. We must stop sanctioning ourselves.”

Last week, the House passed the Ukraine Support Act (H.R. 4278), legislation introduced by Royce and Ranking Member Eliot Engel.
