Today, the House Foreign Affairs Committee, chaired by Rep. Ed Royce (R-CA), passed H. Res. 728, bipartisan legislation supporting human rights, democracy and the rule of law in Cambodia. Under Hun Sen’s leadership human rights in Cambodia have deteriorated dramatically.

Today’s rally comes just a week after the State Department released, “Report on Serious Human Rights Abuses and Censorship in North Korea,” which was mandated by Chairman Royce’s North Korea Sanctions and Policy Enhancement Act of 2016.

House Votes to Block Admin’s Purchase of Iran’s Heavy Water

Today, the House of Representatives passed legislation prohibiting the Obama administration from purchasing heavy water from Iran. In April, the administration agreed to pay $8.6 million for 32 metric tons of heavy water. Passing today’s legislation, No 2H2O from Iran Act (H.R. 5119), will ensure U.S. taxpayers aren’t subsidizing Iran’s production of this sensitive material.

Tomorrow marks the one-year anniversary of the conclusion of the Iran nuclear talks. In remarks from the White House, President Obama tried to assure a skeptical American public that he would not turn a blind eye to Iran’s other dangerous and illicit acts. He promised he would continue to press Iran to stop its illicit missiles program, its support for terror, and its human rights abuses. He hasn’t.
