Washington, D.C. – Today, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Ed Royce (R-CA) hosted a bipartisan meeting with Ambassador Gérard Araud of the French Republic to discuss counter-extremism efforts and other important national security issues following the devastating terror attacks in Paris.

Following the meeting, Chairman Royce said: “In the aftermath of the brutal terrorist assault against the French people, France has rallied and acted with great determination and resolve.  America’s oldest ally, France has fought alongside us from the very beginning of our struggle for independence.  With this sense of fraternity, we are actively pursuing ways to enhance our longstanding alliance, including strengthening cooperation on counter-terrorism efforts, joint military operations to defeat ISIS, and enhancing information sharing on threats from radicalized Islamist extremists and returning foreign fighters from Syria and Iraq.”
