Washington, D.C. – House Foreign Affairs Committee Lead Republican Michael McCaul has released the following statement after voting in support of the supplemental funding for Israel’s Iron Dome system. The funding was initially and unexpectedly stripped out of the continuing resolution that passed the House earlier this week.

Israel has an unequivocal right to self-defense. Iron Dome – a product of U.S.-Israel security cooperation – is a vital part of Israel’s self-defense, having saved countless lives when Hamas launched over 4,000 rockets at Israel in May. It is critical Israel have the necessary tools to protect their citizens against future attacks by bad actors. After the troubling actions of a small group of Members threatened this vital funding, I am pleased it passed the House with broad bipartisan support. The U.S.-Israel relationship should remain non-partisan.”
