Washington D.C. – Congressman Michael McCaul (R-TX), Lead Republican of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, released the following statement after China announced plans to kick American journalists out of the country.

“As the Chinese Communist Party continues to deflect its culpability for the spread of coronavirus, this action is the most serious blow yet to press freedom in China. It’s clear the CCP’s biggest fear is accountability and this will only embolden our  journalists to continue reporting the truth. We stand by the brave reporters, some of whom have suffered violence and threats from the CCP regime, as Beijing’s coronavirus coverup continues. I hope Beijing will answer our call to take accountability for their role in the spread of coronavirus, and become a part of the solution to protect people around the world.”
