“With the alarming rise of authoritarianism in Latin America, Ecuador is a critical voice of freedom and democracy. As Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and Chairwoman of the Subcommittee on Western Hemisphere, we appreciate the Ecuadorian government’s efforts to strengthen the bilateral relationship based on shared values and interests. The United States respects the sovereignty of Ecuador’s institutions and must continue enhancing our bilateral economic and security ties.”
