McCaul Reaffirms Commitment to Two-State Solution in the Middle East, Opposes Harmful House Resolution
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Michael McCaul (R-TX), Lead Republican on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, released the following statement opposing H. Res. 326 and reaffirming his support for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict:
“Earlier this year, I proudly supported a two-state solution as part of the bipartisan H. Res. 246. My support for a two-state solution is unwavering. However, with H. Res. 326, progressive Democrats are using the Israeli-Palestinian conflict as a political tool meant to embarrass Israel and the Trump Administration. For this reason, I opposed the resolution today. I will continue to advocate for a negotiated solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict resulting in two democratic states living side-by-side in peace, security, and mutual recognition, but we must do so in a way that respects our friend and ally Israel.”
