McCaul: Kerry Traveling to China to Discuss Climate “Sending the Absolute Wrong Signal”
Washington, D.C. – House Foreign Affairs Committee Lead Republican Michael McCaul has released the following statement ahead of Ambassador John Kerry’s trip to China after further reports reveal forced labor central to the Chinese Communist Party’s green energy policies.
“Ambassador Kerry is sending the absolute wrong signal by planning to travel to the People’s Republic of China to discuss climate issues. The PRC is the world’s largest carbon emitter and backer of coal power. Now reporting from Bloomberg is further revealing that forced labor and polluting industries are central to the PRC’s superficial green energy plans. The United States should be working with countries that want to solve international problems, not those that are creating or worsening them.”
Rep. McCaul called on the Administration last month to add PRC entities connected to the polysilicon supply chain and cautioned Ambassador Kerry about negotiating with the Chinese Communist Party on climate.
