Washington, D.C. – The House of Representatives today passed the Foreign Aid Transparency and Accountability Act (H.R. 3766).  This bipartisan legislation, introduced by Rep. Ted Poe (R-TX), ensures that United States foreign assistance is efficient and effective.  Specifically, the legislation directs the President to establish guidelines for U.S. foreign development and economic assistance programs.

Upon House passage of H.R. 3766, Chairman Royce said:  “I’d like to thank Rep. Ted Poe, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Terrorism, Nonproliferation, and Trade, for his years of dedication to this important issue.  This bill, the result of many hearings and strong oversight,  will ensure stronger foreign aid programs, and greater transparency and accountability for American taxpayers.  With smarter investments we can do more to support freedom and open markets abroad, and in turn create more opportunities for workers and businesses here at home.”
