Washington, D.C. – House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Ed Royce (R-CA) issued the following statement on Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen’s visit to Los Angeles:

“It is wonderful to welcome President Tsai to Los Angeles, and see so many from the local Taiwanese American community come join the celebration of the U.S.-Taiwan relationship and strong people-to-people ties.  As Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee, I can say that Congress looks forward to working closely with Taiwan to strengthen all aspects of the United States-Taiwan relationship, including supporting Taiwan’s bid for entry into the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade agreement.”

NOTE: Earlier this month, Chairman Royce led a bipartisan delegation to Taiwan during which he met with President Tsai.  Rep. Royce has led delegations to Taiwan each year as Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
