Washington, D.C. – House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Ed Royce (R-CA) issued the following statement after the president-elect announced his intent to nominate Rex Tillerson for Secretary of State:

“For eight years now, the Obama administration’s policies have emboldened our enemies and left our allies questioning U.S. resolve.  Iran, Russia, North Korea and ISIS have taken full advantage.  To keep America safe, we need a new approach – driven by a diplomatic team that will aggressively assert U.S. national security and economic interests. 

“Rex Tillerson has unique experience and comes highly recommended.  I look forward to hearing from him on restoring U.S. leadership and countering threats to freedom and peace.”
