Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. Ed Royce (R-CA), Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, issued the following statement on Thursday’s scheduled confirmation hearing of Michael Froman, President Obama’s nominee to serve as the U.S. Trade Representative:

“The Administration needs a more ambitious trade agenda.  Other countries are moving ahead.  It must fight for agreements that open overseas markets to U.S. exports and create American jobs.  The next  U.S. Trade Representative must ensure that talks, particularly with the European Union, address the complex regulatory issues that stop trade.”

Note:  Royce is the former chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee’s trade subcommittee.
