Washington, D.C. – Today, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Ed Royce (R-CA) issued the following statement after a meeting with Aung San Suu Kyi, State Counselor of Burma:

“It was a pleasure to welcome Aung San Suu Kyi to the nation’s capital for a meeting.  I am encouraged by her democratic and economic reform efforts.  While this new administration brings hope to Burma, I remain concerned over the grave mistreatment of Burma’s Rohyinga, a minority that continues to be among the most persecuted people in the world.  As Chairman, I remain committed to efforts to protect this tormented minority.”
