Washington, D.C. – House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Ed Royce (R-CA) announced the following upcoming committee event:

Thursday, November 29
Subcommittee Hearing: U.S. Policy Toward Syria (Part II)

2 p.m. on Thursday, November 29, in 2172 Rayburn House Office Building

Subcommittee on the Middle East and North Africa
Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), Chairman

Invited witnesses:

The Honorable James F. Jeffrey
Special Representative for Syria Engagement
U.S. Department of State

Mr. Robert Jenkins
Deputy Assistant Administrator
Bureau for Democracy, Conflict, and Humanitarian Assistance
U.S. Agency for International Development

Chairman Ros-Lehtinen on the hearing: “With the administration recently outlining its goals in Syria, including the enduring defeat of ISIS, de-escalation of the conflict, and a political process that brings the conflict to a close, this hearing will allow Members to press the administration on how it plans to achieve those goals. At the same time, Members will have a chance to assess the administration’s response to humanitarian needs and the ongoing refugee crisis. With Iran, Russia, Turkey, and others with malign intentions seeking to capitalize on Syria’s fragility, the U.S. must ensure our interests, as well as those of our regional allies, are protected.”
