Tomorrow at 10 a.m., House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Ed Royce (R-CA) will convene a hearing entitled “Genocide Against the Burmese Rohingya.”

House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Ed Royce (R-CA) announced the following upcoming committee events:

“Evidence of Burma’s genocide against the Rohingya continues to grow. Thousands of men, women and children have been slaughtered, entire villages have been burned and bulldozed, and more than 700,000 have been forced to flee their homes. The administration has tools at hand to hold Burmese officials accountable. This hearing is an opportunity for members to examine the latest developments in this crisis and review the action that’s needed to help stop the violence.”

When deployed thoughtfully and consistently, sanctions can leverage America’s economic might to peacefully end urgent threats to our national security.

The democratic Jewish state of Israel is a friend and major strategic partner of the United States. Israel is a beacon of freedom, democracy, and stability in the otherwise troubled Middle East.

This afternoon we meet to consider House Resolution 1017. As members know, we typically want to see extensive bipartisan consultation and at least 25 cosponsors before marking up resolutions.

Our goal here is to leverage America’s economic might to peacefully end urgent threats to our national security. If we’re going to succeed, the administration needs to fully utilize the tools Congress has provided.

Today the House passed the Rescuing Animals With Rewards (RAWR) Act (H.R. 6197), which uses the State Department’s existing global rewards program to target transnational wildlife traffickers.

Israel faces growing threats, particularly from Iran and its terrorist proxies. This bill will ensure that the United States continues to have Israel’s back in the face of these growing threats.
