Washington, D.C. – House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Ed Royce (R-CA), author of the North Korea Sanctions Enforcement Act (H.R. 757), issued the following statement in reaction to North Korea’s ICBM launch:

“Kim Jong Un has taken yet another belligerent step threatening the interests of the United States and our allies.  As North Korea works to build a nuclear arsenal capable of hitting the United States it is clear the Obama administration’s policy of ‘strategic patience’ has failed.  This latest aggression underscores the importance of enacting my legislation to strengthen targeted sanctions against this brutal regime.”

NOTE: The North Korea Sanctions Enforcement Act passed the House overwhelmingly in January.  The bipartisan legislation recently passed the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and is scheduled for a Senate vote next week.
