Washington, D.C. – This morning, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Ed Royce (R-CA) appeared on FOX News’s America’s Newsroom to discuss Iran’s latest dangerous act.  Video and key excerpts included below:

On Iran’s detention of 10 U.S. sailors and its impact on foreign policy:

“Our sailors should not have been disarmed…we’re seeing these clips coming out of Iran that shows one of our sailors apologizing and then shows these sailors on their knees with their hands behind their backs, their weapons have been taken from them… Iran is on a roll and the administration’s getting rolled one more time after they just fired rockets close to the USS Truman, our carrier.  The Iranians continue with this type of bad behavior and we continue to retreat in the face of it.”

On Iran being emboldened by the Obama administration and the Iran nuclear deal:

“I see one dangerous and provocative act after another. Whether it’s launching [ballistic missiles] or it’s taking an additional American hostage—which they did some weeks ago … These kind of actions, conducted by the IRGC—the Iranian Revolutionary Guards forces—are just beginning. They’re going to get over $100 billion in this agreement, which will further fuel this kind of activity.

“We made the wrong bet here in empowering the ayatollah in my opinion. I helped lead the fight against this Iranian deal and everything I’ve seen since indicates to me that it strengthened the hands, this tilt towards Iran has strengthened the hand of the ayatollah.”
