Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. Ed Royce (R-CA), Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, announced that, during a Tuesday, June 2 hearing, the Committee will hear from the families of four Americans either detained or missing in Iran. The hearing, entitled “Americans Detained in Iran,” will begin at 10:00 a.m.
Chairman Royce on the hearing: “The detentions or disappearance of four Americans inside Iran are more examples of the Iranian regime’s horrendous human rights record. Unfortunately, this is nothing new for the regime. This hearing will give Members of the Committee and the American public an opportunity to hear from the families of these four Americans and explore ways to secure their release.”
Immediately following the hearing, the Committee will consider H. Res. 233, authored by Rep. Dan Kildee (D-MI), which expresses the sense of the House of Representatives that Iran should immediately release the three United States citizens it holds, as well as provide all known information on any United States citizens that have disappeared within its borders.
