Chairman Royce on Arrest of Lebanese-American in Iran
Washington, D.C. – House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Ed Royce (R-CA) today issued the following statement in response to reports that a Washington-based Lebanese-American has been jailed by authorities in Iran:
“Another day, another hostage taken by Iran. Iran has clearly declared open season on anyone with ties to the United States. What is the White House going to do about it?”
NOTE: The Iranian regime already holds at least three other hostages in Iranian jails – including Washington Post reporter Jason Rezaian. It’s also widely believed Iran is behind the disappearance of a fourth American, retired FBI agent Robert Levinson. In June, Chairman Royce convened a hearing at which family members of these four Americans, either detained or missing in Iran, testified.
