Chairman Ed Royce (R-CA) urged Treasury Secretary Jack Lew to ensure Iran remains on a key international panel’s list of countries designated as “high-risk and non-cooperative jurisdictions” for money laundering and terrorist financing.

Today the House Foreign Affairs Committee, chaired by Rep. Ed Royce (R-CA), passed two measures addressing state sponsors of terrorism and a bill to promote the role of women in resolving conflict.

“In recent years, instead of using the Treaty for its intended purpose, Russia has been using its Open Skies flights to expand its espionage capabilities,” Royce, Nunes and Thornberry write. “Allowing Russia to upgrade the sensors used in these flights to digital technology would only make this worse… We urge you to heed the advice of senior military personnel and other officials and reject this Russian request while examining modern alternatives to these flights.”

President Obama still doesn’t have a plan to defeat ISIS. The White House’s inaction and ineptness allowed these radical Islamist terrorists to spread across Syria, Iraq and Libya. Today ISIS continues to control huge swaths of land, and they are using these safe havens to inspire and plot more attacks against the United States.

Today at 10 a.m., House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Ed Royce (R-CA) will convene a hearing entitled “U.S. Policy Toward Putin’s Russia.”

Upon passage of H.R. 3694, Chairman Royce said: “Rising global demand and a lack of adequate laws in other countries has fueled the growth of a worldwide black market for transplant organs. Criminal organizations and terrorist groups are increasingly engaging in this black market industry, valued at over $1 billion. ISIS recently issued a ‘fatwa’ sanctioning forced organ harvesting from captives and those they call apostates, including Yezidis and Christians, and traffickers smuggling refugees into Europe have reportedly coerced organ donations as payment for travel.

Chairman Royce on the hearing: “The Obama administration’s policy toward Putin’s Russia is clearly failing. From invading Ukraine to bombing Syrian hospitals and schools, Putin has only become more belligerent, in part due to a lack of U.S. leadership and credibility. We must work with Russia from a position of strength. This hearing will look at ways to improve our U.S. policy in order to counter Russia’s aggression and secure American interests.”
