House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Ed Royce (R-CA) issued the following statement on House passage of H.R. 5515, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2019:
“Our goal is to peacefully end North Korea’s nuclear threats. The administration should continue to look for opportunities while applying maximum diplomatic and financial pressure against Kim Jong Un. Our allies – including South Korea and Japan – need to stand with the United States. There can be no daylight between us.”
Today at 9 a.m., the House Foreign Affairs Committee, chaired by Rep. Ed Royce (R-CA), will hear testimony from Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. The hearing is entitled “Strengthening American Diplomacy: Reviewing the State Department’s Budget, Operations, and Policy Priorities.”
“As this committee continues its work to strengthen our national security – including by maintaining pressure on North Korea and pursuing critical reforms to our food aid and international broadcasting programs – we look forward to hearing from Secretary Pompeo about the administration’s foreign affairs priorities.”
