In advance of World AIDS Day, Congress demonstrated its continued support for PEPFAR by passing the PEPFAR Extension Act (H.R. 6651).

This week, the Foreign Affairs Committee unveiled a portrait of retiring Chairman Ed Royce (R-CA) in a ceremony at the National Archives. Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) was on hand to accept the portrait into the House collection, and he joined House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), House Foreign Affairs Committee Ranking Member Eliot Engel (D-NY), Assistant Secretary of State Marie Royce and others in honoring the tireless statesman from Orange County.

In advance of next month’s scheduled elections in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), the House of Representatives today passed the Democratic Republic of the Congo Democracy and Accountability Act (H.R. 6207), which promotes free and fair elections in the DRC and holds accountable those who impede the democratic process.

Today the House of Representatives passed the Iraq and Syria Genocide Emergency Relief and Accountability Act (H.R. 390), which provides for emergency relief to victims of genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes in Iraq and Syria, and provides accountability for perpetrators of these crimes.

The House of Representatives tonight passed H.R. 6018, the Trans-Sahara Counterterrorism Partnership Act of 2018, which improves coordination of U.S. programs in North and West Africa that fight terrorism.

The House of Representatives tonight passed H. Res. 1055 to reaffirm strong U.S.-Liberia ties and call for full implementation of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s recommendations.

Today the House passed H.R. 6651, bipartisan legislation which extends the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) – the most successful U.S. assistance program since the Marshall Plan.
