MEDIA ADVISORY: Foreign Affairs Committee to Hold Hearing Addressing Root Causes of Migration from Central America as Border Crisis Deepens
Washington, DC – On Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at 10:00AM, the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Western Hemisphere, Civilian Security, Migration, and International Economic Policy will hold a hearing examining US foreign policy priorities toward Central America, with a focus on addressing the root causes of migration from the Northern Triangle countries of Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador. The hearing will also examine the Biden Administration’s strategy for the region and plans to address drivers of migration through diplomacy and US foreign assistance programming. The hearing comes as the crisis at the southern border becomes increasingly worse.
HFAC Lead Republican Michael McCaul will give an opening statement at the beginning of the hearing.
