McCaul, Rogers, Turner Blast Biden for Turning a Blind Eye to Current Russian Aggression
Washington, D.C. – House Foreign Affairs Committee Lead Republican Michael McCaul (R-TX), House Armed Services Committee Lead Republican Mike Rogers (R-AL), and House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence Lead Republican Mike Turner (R-OH) have released the following statement ahead of President Biden’s remarks on Russian aggression against Ukraine.
“By the Biden administration’s own estimate, Russia now has nearly 200,000 Russian troops in and near Ukraine – which is the most significant military mobilization in Europe since WW2. Meanwhile, the Putin regime continues to actively spread disinformation to create a false flag pretext for a further invasion. It is therefore ridiculous that the Biden Administration has yet to impose a single meaningful sanction in response to this blatant and ongoing aggression. It’s far past time to demonstrate to Putin, through actions, that there is a serious price to be paid for his destabilizing aggression. We call on Speaker Pelosi to schedule a vote on the NYET Act immediately to impose real costs on Putin and provide our Ukrainian partners with the resources they need.”
The three top national security Republicans in the House, along with House GOP Conference Chairwoman Elise Stefanik (R-NY), introduced the Never Yielding Europe’s Territory (NYET) Act earlier this week. The bill would impose meaningful sanctions on the Putin regime now for its destabilizing military buildup and the hybrid attacks it has already launched against Ukraine as well as send a clear deterrent signal about the additional devastating consequences Russia would incur for a further invasion of Ukraine.
