McCaul Praises Free Countries Uniting to Impose Consequences for CCP’s Genocide
Washington, DC – House Foreign Affairs Committee Lead Republican Michael McCaul has released the following statement after the Biden Administration implemented human rights sanctions on two additional individuals involved in the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) genocide against Uyghurs and other ethnic and religious minorities. For the first time, these sanctions were taken in coordination with Canada, the United Kingdom, and European Union.
“This coordinated action with democratic allies shows that the free world is marshalling its collective will to impose consequences on the Chinese Communist Party’s brutality. Successive U.S. administrations have been clear the CCP is conducting an ongoing genocide against minorities, and yesterday’s action is a major step towards a unified response to what may be the moral test of this generation. I commend the Administration for this diplomatic achievement, and am inspired to see our allies standing with us. I urge all countries that value freedom to publicly acknowledge the CCP’s crimes are a genocide.”
