McCaul on Iran’s “Nuclear Provocations”, Reports of Harassment of Female IAEA Inspectors
Washington, D.C.-House Foreign Affairs Committee Lead Republican Michael McCaul has released the following statement in response to ongoing developments related to Iran’s nuclear program, including reports of regime guards harassing female IAEA inspectors.
“It is clear the Biden Administration’s eagerness to return to the nuclear deal is emboldening Iran’s nuclear provocations. But it is not too late to reverse course and safeguard our national security interests in the face of Iran’s foot-dragging, game-playing, and obfuscation. The U.S. and our partners must demand Iran make significant concessions on its nuclear program beyond a return to the JCPOA. The Iranian regime has been the intransigent party. We must not reward them with sanctions relief and short sunsets.
“Additionally, I’m alarmed by reports that Iranian guards harassed female IAEA inspectors this year. These appalling acts reveal disrespect for the inspectors, the rights of woman, and the IAEA, and cannot be tolerated.”
