McCaul, Kim, Bera, Hill, Dean Statement on Taiwan National Day
Washington, D.C. – Today, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul (R-TX), Subcommittee on the Indo-Pacific Chairwoman Young Kim (R-CA), Ranking Member Ami Bera (D-CA), Rep. French Hill (R-AR), and Rep. Madeleine Dean (D-PA) issued the following statement celebrating Taiwan National Day. This April, Chairman McCaul led a bipartisan delegation, including Reps. Kim, Bera, Hill, and Dean to Taiwan. There, they met with Taiwanese officials and discussed ways to strengthen the U.S. economic and defense relationship with Taiwan in the face of growing threats in the region.
“We wish the people of Taiwan a Happy National Day today! We were glad to have the opportunity to travel to Taiwan this year, and enjoyed the hospitality, warmth, and good food. Taiwan is a vibrant democracy, and it’s up to all democracies to ensure Taiwan remains free and open. We will continue to support Taiwan on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, including the timely delivery of arms sales and strengthening U.S.-Taiwan trade and investment ties.”
