Washington, D.C. – Chairman of the U.S.-Mexico Interparliamentary Group (IPG) Henry Cuellar (D-TX) and Ranking Member Michael McCaul (R-TX) released the following statement ahead of today’s North American Leaders’ Summit.

“As the co-chairs of the U.S.-Mexico Interparliamentary Group, we are pleased the Biden Administration has revived the North American Leaders’ Summit after a five-year pause. It is an opportunity to highlight and address the critical issues that face our deeply integrated continent.

“We must use this summit as an opportunity to increase our economic competitiveness, expand our joint investments, and grow the trade and energy potential of North America. All three trade partners must make meaningful efforts to address supply chain bottlenecks and ensure a rapid economic and public health recovery from the pandemic. In a world where the United States sees China as a major strategic competitor, North America must remain vigilant through the cooperative efforts of our countries.”
