McCaul Condemns Iran’s Attack Against Israel
Washington, D.C. – Today, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul issued the following statement in response to Iran’s attacks against our partner and ally, Israel.
“Tonight, our ally Israel is enduring an attack of close to 200 ballistic missiles launched from Iran and a terrorist attack while continuing to fight Iran-backed Hamas terrorists in Gaza and Hezbollah terrorists in Lebanon. I strongly condemn these attacks and will continue monitoring closely to assess casualties and damage.
“While I appreciate the administration’s positioning of military assets in the region to support Israel, there is much more that needs to be done to defeat these adversaries. It is abundantly clear that after its April missile attack, Iran was not deterred. The Biden-Harris administration should place maximum pressure on Iran and its proxies, rather than pressure Israel for a ceasefire. We need to expedite arms transfers to Israel that this administration has delayed for months, including 2,000-pound bombs, to ensure Israel has all the tools to deter these threats. The administration also needs to utilize all the sanctions authorities we have, including those created in my 21st Century Peace Through Strength Act, to cut off resources to Iran and its proxies.”
